Babe, here is the list of movies I was talking about. Movies that you must see, you haven't seen, and are available on DVDs or online streaming in Canada. So again the list doesn't contain the ones I know you've already seen. I'd love to watch the movies below with you <3
BEST OF BEST
Ghost World (2011)This is exactly how I see the world: everybody is too dumb and they actually look happy. The two sarcastic girls Enid and Rebecca who've just graduated from high school are close friends that can't relate to dreary life in an American suburb. They get to know this old geeky loser through a prank call responding a newspaper ad for a date. Enid actually finds him cool as they hang out and share their interests like old vinyls. Meanwhile Rebecca, played by young Scarlett Johansson, eventually outgrows Enid. Enid doesn't really mind it since she's totally into Seymour, the old guy, but when he legitimately starts dating a mature lady she realizes she's getting isolated. Her family, Rebecca, Seymour... a few people of her are all leaving her alone and she was the one who ditched them first.
This film inspired me a lot...the taste of irony, colorful clothing, blues and ragtime music, American underground comics etc. The documentary movie Crumb that I'll put in the list later is also related to the world of Ghost World. Just thinking about that world never makes me completely lonely.
Pink Flamingo (1972) and all other films by Sir John Waters
John Waters aka pope of trash is my god. I DO NOT recommend his movies but somehow they've been essential to my life. I really can't pick one but for you this one would worth to check since is the most notorious epic. Pink Flamingo is an ultimate sweet fantasy known as the king of cult movies. Filthy people come into a conflict to grab the honor of 'the filthiest person alive'. Most significantly Waters's muse Divine, in picture below, eats a fresh dog turd at the end. Very sweet. She/He (It's a guy, obviously) did it for what? Nothing. This whole movie means nothing. Mr. John Waters made this movie to simply disgust audience. Some believe movies are meant to contain lessons of life or some sort of messages... fuck that shit. I'm offended by those fascists who believe what they are touched must touch all mankind. This disgusting piece of shit they would call is actually my best friend, treasure, and painkiller against this filthy world.
Faster Pussy Cat, Kill! Kill! (1965)
A visual drug. Just watch the first few minutes and you'll get high. I was really impressed when I got to see this on screen at Rio theatre... The director/ boobs fetishist Russ Mayer's art of editing is stunning as John Waters called him 'the Eisenstein of sex films'. And nothing is better than seeing women beat stupid guys up. Yes, as you know I'm a twisted feminist. The last sequence of Death Proof is an homage to this movie. (Oh Tarantino is my hero but I bet you've seen most of his films.) Tura Satana, in the picture, became a lesbian icon and was a genuine Karate master who had Japanese descent. And was genuinely mean in her real life. Go! baby, go!
